Mise-en-scene Recreation Task

 Blaire Witch Recreation

For the mise-en-scene task, I have chosen to recreate the 'Apology scene' from the Blair Witch Project. In my rendition of this scene, I intend to emulate the characters expressions and movements. I want to recreate this scene in the most accurate way possible. To achieve that, I will implement aspects of mise-en-scene.

Costume: the female protagonist is seen wearing a beanie. The rest of her costume is not seen as she does not show that to the camera.

Lighting: The source of light is a flashlight directed at her face, coming from the right-hand side. There is very minimal lighting surrounding her. The use of only a key light creates dramatic shadows on her face and leaves the background dark. I will use a flashlight to achieve that same effect.

Actors: The actress appears to be distressed and fearful. She also appears to have tears in her eyes. I will try to recreate her expressions and movements.

Makeup: The actress does not appear to wear makeup, I will also not wear makeup.

Props: The only prop used in this scene is a flashlight. I will use the flashlight as a prop in addition to lighting.

Setting: This scene is set outside in the woods. Although it is no visually disclosed, the setting can be identified from the diegetic sounds. I will edit those sound into my recreation to emulate the same effect that was given in the original version.
