Cinematography video feedback/learner response
WWW:
- Clear written description, with some explanations – highlighting media terminology;
- Excellent idea to include a voiceover; • Effective use of on-screen titles – positioned well – to label shots;
- Great opening close-up shot and movement downwards;
- Accomplished continuity editing – economical story-telling;
- Very effective use of music – appropriate for the narrative;
- Some superb cinematography and editing throughout!
- The opening ‘pan’ is actually a downward ‘tilt’; • Avoid two similar shots in succession (e.g. the close-ups of the phone);
- The 180-degree rule is broken when the protagonist goes through the door;
- Attention to detail – camera operator can be seen indoor reflection;
- Missed opportunities to include zoom in/out;
- The ‘tracking shot’ at the end is actually a ‘pan’;
- 'The End’ title would have been better as a film title as it’s like a trailer.
I asked Nadima, whilst in the lesson, to give me feedback on my task. She said that she liked the voice-over along with the music that I included in the background.
My Self-Evaluation:
WWW:
- I successfully completed what was assigned to me.
- I used sound effects to further convey the emotions that the protagonist is feeling
- I showed skills in terms of editing
EBI:
- I needed to label all of the shots
- Ensure that I am labelling the correct shot name
- Avoid similar shots
This task allowed me to experiment with different shots and angles. It also allowed me to get more experience when editing a short film/clip. When incomes to completing coursework in the summer, I will pay attention to minor things so that my whole project is perfect. I will also use a range of camera shots that I did not use in this task, such as the crane shot etc.
