Within the opening of the sequence, the audience is presented with a medium close up of the character to present his emotions and calamity. There is then a close up shot of the hotel door and the door number. The closeup of the door number suggests that there is a significance with the number and fans of the shining would be able to spot the easter egg. This offers viewers the audience pleasure of familiarity and gives them a feeling of being rewarded for being able to identify it. Soon after this, a long shot is used to display the setting of the bathroom. Another medium close up is used to convey the emotions felt by the character in this scene. Soon after the women approaches the main character of this scene, the camera pans towards the mirror to reveal the woman's true identity. For the remaining of the scene uses a mixture of medium close ups and medium long shots to present to the audience what is happening in the surrounding atmosphere along with portraying the fear or anger presented by the two characters within this scene.




This image uses a point of view shot to place the audience in the position of the person that is having dinner with these other individuals. The expressions on their faces suggests that something shocking or distasteful was said on behalf of the character. The fact that the other characters are facing the camera, the audience is made to identify with the character that they are glaring at.

The music video is a satirical comment on American culture, racism and gun violence. Racking up 10m views in the first 24 hours, it now stands at over half a billion views and has been dubbed ‘genius’ and ‘a masterpiece’.  Childish Gambino's This is America music video meets the key conventions of a music video. The artist is seen lipsyncing to the song, along with this the artist and other individuals featured in the video are dancing to the rhythm of the song. In addition to this, a narrative is shown through the video with the supplementary use of props and movements.
