Film & TV Language: Sound analysis tasks

Film & TV Language: Sound analysis tasks Once Upon A Time In The West This clip contains no dialogue, however, it still manages to tell a story through the use of diegetic & Foley sounds . This sounds include; footsteps, a creaky windmill, cracking of knuckles, a dog and most importantly a train. Each of these sounds is revisited multiple times in the clip to emphasise each component whilst introducing each character and briefly present their personalities. The sound bridge is used when the train is approaching, a sound bridge is only used in this scene, this emphasises that the train arriving is a pivotal point in the narrative.  Clockwork Orange Contrapuntal sound is used in this scene. Classical music is played over acts of violence scene to empathise the chaotic and disrupted nature of the main character. A non-diegetic voice ove r is used to put the audience within the mind of the antagonist. Us as the audience is also given a privilege of knowing that he w...

Film & TV Language: Mise-en-scene video feedback and learner response

Film & TV Language: Mise-en-scene video feedback and learner response Mise-en-scene recreation: Learner response WWW from Mr Bush: Excellent Framing Use of lighting - Torch  Camera angle - Low Angle Sound effect Very accurate recreation Tears/Makeup Performance/ EBI: N/A My planning helped clarify and develop my ideas. I was able to pin point and identify key factors of the original Blaire Witch Project scene and then incorporate that into my recreation of that scene.  In terms of improvement in my work in future videoes, i will attempt to try edit videos on premiere pro as it will get me prepared for the coursework task.  Mise-en-scene is important as it helps develop narrative to the audience very quickly, without needing to over explain elements of it.

Practical assignment: parallel and contrapuntal sound video

Practical assignment: parallel and contrapuntal sound video For this media task involving sound, I used a clip from Marvel's Deadpool. This scene is a high action part of the movie. It contains violence and gore, which, is commonly seen throughout the film. Comedy is a vital element of Deadpool; this it is what makes the movie series so successful. Contrapuntal music is often seen throughout Deadpool as it adds to the comedic aspect (such as pop music during a fight scene). I tried to emulate this by using classical music during a gruesome scene. The parallel sound aspect of my edited video is seen at the beginning of the clip and comes from the original Deadpool scene. I also decreased the volume of the contrapuntal sound when Deadpool speaks so that my edit seems that it is apart of the original scene.

Lighting Blog Task

Lighting blog tasks Still image analysis Lowkey lighting has been used to create a shadow on the woman's face. Top lighting , from the left-hand side, allows the majority of the woman's face to be hidden in the shadows. This technique could've been used to create mystery and potentially depict her as the femme fatale Lowkey lighting is used to create dramatic shadows on the woman's face. Top lighting is also used which accentuates her features and the feminine aspects of it. The positioning of her hands and the expression on her face presents her as being in a state of disparity.   In this image, high key lighting is being used. Although there are shadows around certain parts of the protagonists face, the effect of the lighting is more realistic and not as harsh. The shadows that are seen under his eyes and neck appear to be created through top lighting. These shadows portray the protagonist as domineering and potentially tyrannical.   Lowkey lighting , along wit...

Mise-en-scene Recreation Task

Blaire Witch Recreation  For the mise-en-scene task, I have chosen to recreate the 'Apology scene' from the Blair Witch Project. In my rendition of this scene, I intend to emulate the characters expressions and movements. I want to recreate this scene in the most accurate way possible. To achieve that, I will implement aspects of mise-en-scene. Costume: the female protagonist is seen wearing a beanie. The rest of her costume is not seen as she does not show that to the camera.  Lighting: The source of light is a flashlight directed at her face, coming from the right-hand side. There is very minimal lighting surrounding her. The use of only a key light creates dramatic shadows on her face and leaves the background dark. I will use a flashlight to achieve that same effect.  Actors: The actress appears to be distressed and fearful. She also appears to have tears in her eyes. I will try to recreate her expressions and movements.  Makeup: The actress does not appear...
