    Editing Essay: 750 word analysis The Godfather (1972) was an acclaimed movie that depicts the lifestyle of a family that has involvement in mafia activities. it was based on Mario Puzo's 1969 crime novel of the same name. This film was directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Coppola uses editing to unify creatively beautiful scenes and heighten the gratifications experienced by the audience.  Francis Ford Coppola's cinematic masterpiece The Godfather actively uses editing techniques to make the experience for the audience pleasurable. The most prominent editing technique is using audio. One aspect of audio that is notable is the diegetic sound of the christening playing throughout the entirety of the montage scene. I incorporated the three aspects of key editing that was required.  In terms of my strengths, I think I successfully achieved a smooth match on the action throughout the video. I also incorporated knowledge from previous lessons by using Jcuts and L cuts to achieve a smooth view time for the audience. Cinematography Task Catch up  Task One: 3 Colours Blue The director uses close up shots of the car tire so depict to the audience that the characters are on a journey to somewhere. In addition the close up of the characters face is used to convey the emotions of the characters whilst on this trip. The focus switches from the girls face to the view of the cars. The director is showing the audience what the little girl can see. That puts the audience in a position to identify with this specific character. There is a close up of brake fluid leaking from the car, this foreshadows, to the audience, a car crash or disruption whilst driving on the road. Cinematography Analysis Blog Task Task One: The Birds (1962), directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Alfred Hitchcock uses editing to establish action whilst also building suspense. Soon after the woman sits down to smoke, there is a cross cut to the birds. The camera focusing on the birds for a long extent of time builds tension for the audience. A cutaway  is used at this moment as she is running away, this is suggesting to the audience that the birds are a type of threat. The use of cross-cutting between the birds and the woman running successfully depicts the suspense within the scene. Task Two: City of God (2002), directed by Fernando Meirelles. In the opening of this clip, cross cuts are used in abundance to make the pace quite fast. Fast camera movements and shaky camera work are also used to enhance this.
